Simplifying the Truth
Next on my list of Jewish holidays is the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). This one reflects on Israel’s wandering through the wilderness for 40 years. But it was also meant to point the Jews to the Messiah, Jesus.
As I make my way through the feasts, the next one is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This one coincides with Passover very closely. In Passover we learn Jesus is the perfect sacrificial Lamb of God. And why He is can be found clearly in the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Plowing through the Jewish holidays leads me to the Feast of the Firstfruits. It’s quite exciting how this one foreshadows Jesus!
In my last post, I discussed the connection between Passover and Easter. I’m going to continue discussing Jewish and Christian holidays by talking about the Day of Pentecost. We all understand the NT Pentecost, but do we really understand the OT connections?
People say that Jesus is the Lamb of God. But why a lamb specifically? It goes back to Passover. The parallels between Passover and the Crucifixion are astounding. God knew what He was doing when He instituted Passover.
